Meow! Woof Woof! Ca-cahow (not quite sure which animal this is to be completely honest)! Yay today is National Pet Day! Can I get a whoop whoop for the most photogenic member of your family? If there was a day to spotlight your lovable creatures, it’s today. But today isn’t all about Scooby snacks and cat selfies, this holiday was created for a good cause. In the U.S. alone there are an estimated 13,600 animal shelters. 70 million cats in the U.S. are without a home (this is not the cat’s meow). Every year about 2.7 million beautiful, loving animals are put to death. Where’s Sarah McLachlan when you need her? Check out for more the ASPCA’s pet stats and join us in celebrating and bringing awareness to the plight of animals.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and man. -Mark Twain
